Kernel compromise via failed DMA scatter-gather mapping

Memory corruption in the Linux ivtv driver allows local users to compromise the kernel through DMA device-node operations. When dma_map_sg() returns zero, the driver retains SG_length as zero and indexes SGarray at minus one, corrupting an adjacent page pointer. Access to an ivtv /dev/video or /dev/fb node and compatible capture hardware is required; successful exploitation can disclose or overwrite kernel memory or wedge the driver.
