Carrier-detection hang via invalid nested locking
Published Aug 20, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Improper locking in the QMC HDLC driver in Linux 6.9 through 6.10.3 and 6.11-rc1 allows local users to hang carrier detection. qmc_hdlc_framer_set_carrier holds the carrier_lock spinlock while calling framer_get_status, which attempts to acquire a mutex in an invalid wait context and deadlocks. The path requires the Freescale QMC HDLC driver to process a carrier change; published evidence reports availability loss, not data exposure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
