Service interruption via leaked non-IP packet buffers
Published Aug 20, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Memory exhaustion in Linux kernel 4.12 through 6.11-rc2 allows local users to interrupt service via non-IP QMAP packets. qmimux_rx_fixup allocates a new sk_buff before inspecting the packet's IP version, then skips an unrecognized packet without freeing that buffer. Exposure requires an active qmi_wwan QMAP receive path and the ability to cause repeated non-IP packets to arrive; accumulated allocations can exhaust memory.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
