Cross-site scripting via redirect anchor rendering
Published Sep 10, 2024 · Updated Sep 10, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Express before 4.20.0 and 5.0.0 alpha releases allows remote attackers to execute script code through response.redirect(). The response.redirect method HTML-escapes an attacker-controlled destination but places it in an anchor href, leaving javascript schemes executable. Exploitation requires attacker control of the redirect input, the browser to display the fallback response before redirecting, and a user to click its link.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
