Stored XSS via unchecked hyperlink schemes
Published Sep 11, 2024 · Updated Sep 11, 2024
Stored XSS in Halo before 2.19.0 allows remote authenticated users to run scripts in site visitors' browsers through crafted links. The editor accepts a mixed-case javascript URL as a hyperlink destination, stores the href without rejecting the executable scheme, and renders it in content. An account with editor access can plant the link, and execution occurs in the reader's Halo browser context with access to origin-scoped data.
