CVE-2024-43789Network attack vector

Service interruption via unbounded reply retrieval

Published Oct 7, 2024 · Updated Oct 8, 2024

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Discourse stable before 3.3.1 and beta before 3.4.0.beta1 allows remote attackers to interrupt service. The unauthenticated PostsController replies action queried and serialized every reply to an attacker-chosen post without a result limit. A public post with a very large reply set is required, and requesting all replies can exhaust server resources without reported data exposure or modification.
