CVE-2024-43781

Credential disclosure via plaintext password tracing

Published Sep 10, 2024 · Updated Sep 10, 2024

Sensitive-data exposure in Siemens SINUMERIK systems provisioned with Create MyConfig allows local users to read higher-privilege passwords. During CMC package execution on an NCU or IPC, the tracing subsystem writes the package password or a manually entered password in plaintext to uptrace.out. Low-privilege local authentication and prior CMC provisioning are required; the exposed credential enables impersonation of a more privileged user.
