Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published May 21, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Page Builder by SiteOrigin 2.29.15 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via a shortcode. The siteorigin_widget shortcode in inc/widget-shortcode.php processes user-supplied widget attributes without sufficient input sanitization or output escaping. Contributor-level access is required; injected scripts execute in a visitor's browser whenever the crafted page is viewed, enabling access to browser-visible data or page modification within that session.
