Unauthenticated OCSP service interruption
Published Oct 8, 2024 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Denial of service in Microsoft Windows Server's OCSP service allows remote attackers to interrupt certificate-status responses. Microsoft identifies uncontrolled resource consumption in the OCSP Server component but has not published the request field, parser, or resource operation that exhausts capacity. The service must be network-reachable; exploitation requires no authentication or user interaction and can make OCSP status checking unavailable without affecting confidentiality or integrity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
