CVE-2024-43488Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Remote code execution via unauthenticated local webserver

Published Oct 8, 2024 · Updated Aug 19, 2026

Remote code execution in Microsoft's Visual Studio Code extension for Arduino allows remote attackers to run code after user interaction. Its unauthenticated local web server accepts browser-reachable requests that invoke Arduino CLI and arbitrary VS Code commands. A victim must visit an attacker-controlled site that uses DNS rebinding to reach the loopback service; the attacker can write, load, execute, and delete files under the victim's account.
