Administrator-level remote code execution via unsafe deserialization
Published Sep 10, 2024 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Deserialization of untrusted data in affected Microsoft SharePoint Server 16.0 builds allows remote authenticated users to execute code. SharePoint's affected deserialization path permits unauthorized custom types, including IDictionary descendants, to be instantiated from untrusted serialized data. Microsoft has not disclosed the affected entry point or request field; exploitation requires high SharePoint privileges and grants server-context code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
