Privilege escalation via out-of-bounds driver read
Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Jul 8, 2025
An out-of-bounds read in the Windows USB Video Class system driver allows physically proximate attackers to elevate privileges. Microsoft identifies Usbvideo.sys and CWE-125 but has not disclosed the parsing path, malformed field, or memory operation that reads beyond its buffer. Exploitation requires physical access and no prior privileges or user interaction, and successful exploitation grants SYSTEM privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
