JavaScript execution via unescaped H5P error templates
Published Nov 11, 2024 · Updated Nov 12, 2024
Reflected XSS in Moodle LMS allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript through a crafted H5P error-message URL. The h5p/templates/h5perror.mustache template uses raw Mustache interpolation for exception, info, code, and message values, causing double URL-encoded input to render as executable markup. Affected versions are 4.1.11 and earlier, 4.2.0 through 4.2.8, 4.3.0 through 4.3.5, and 4.4.0 through 4.4.1; execution requires a victim to follow the crafted link.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
