CVE-2024-43429Network attack vector

Profile disclosure via unfiltered gradebook search fields

Published Nov 11, 2024 · Updated Nov 12, 2024

Information exposure in affected Moodle LMS 4.1 through 4.4 releases allows remote authenticated users to read hidden profile fields in gradebooks. Gradebook user-search methods returned user objects with identity fields without filtering them through the context-aware core_user fields API. A signed-in user with gradebook access but without the view-hidden-fields capability can search configured hidden fields, exposing profile data such as email addresses.
