Stored XSS via generic-file previews
Published Sep 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Xibo CMS before 4.1.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript when another user previews a generic file. The Library download controller honored preview requests for Generic File uploads and served attacker-controlled HTML or JavaScript for browser execution without checking whether that module permitted previews. The attacker must be authorized to upload through the Generic File module, and exploitation requires another user to preview the resource in the Library or Layout editor.
