Remote code execution via math expression eval
Published Aug 20, 2024 · Updated Aug 20, 2024
Code injection in NicPWNs MEGABOT before 1.5.0 allows remote attackers to execute Python code through the Discord /math command. The math handler in commands/math.py passes the user-controlled expression parameter directly to Python eval(), treating code syntax as a calculation. Any Discord user who can invoke /math in a guild using the bot gains the bot process's execution privileges, exposing its data and availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
