CVE-2024-43401Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via WYSIWYG rendering of stored scripts

Published Aug 19, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2024

Improper privilege management in XWiki Platform before 15.10-rc-1 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through stored content. The WYSIWYG inline editor renders attacker-supplied script macros from profiles or comments when it loads them for editing instead of preserving them as inert source. A low-privileged author must persuade a user with script or programming rights to edit the planted content, after which commands run with the elevated user's authority.
