Stored XSS via unsanitized Automation instructions
Published Aug 20, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2024
Stored XSS in Khoj before 1.15.0 allows remote attackers to inject HTML and JavaScript through the Automation API's q parameter. The Automation page renders stored instruction fields without neutralizing script-related HTML; the fix constructs elements through DOM APIs and sanitizes fields with DOMPurify. Exploitation requires a user to view the affected Automation page, where injected script runs in that user's browser context and can read or alter accessible data.
