Session script execution via unsanitized attachment HTML
Published Aug 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2024
Cross-site scripting in 37signals Trix before 2.1.4 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript by inducing a user to paste malicious HTML. AttachmentView passes attacker-controlled attachment content to innerHTML after checking only the outer DataTransfer MIME type, not the attachment's own type. Exploitation requires the victim to paste the crafted content into a Trix editor; the script runs in that user's application session and can expose session-accessible data or perform unauthorized actions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
