Frontend denial of service via stored XSS
Published Oct 7, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Stored XSS in external-link creation in Cacti before 1.2.28 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt the web interface. The links.php handler stores the unsanitized consolenewsection POST value, and index.php renders it into the main console without neutralizing script markup. Creating an external link requires the relevant privilege, and a viewer must load the console before the short stored payload executes and can make console items unusable.
