Encrypted-message tampering via unauthenticated AES-CTR ciphertext
Published Sep 26, 2024 · Updated Oct 17, 2024
Missing message integrity in goTenna Pro ATAK Plugin 1.9.12 and earlier allows attackers to alter encrypted short messages over RF. The plugin encrypts these messages with malleable AES-CTR ciphertext but applies no message authentication code or other integrity check, so ciphertext modifications are not detected. Exploitation requires adjacent access to a radio message and changes message contents without disclosing plaintext or interrupting service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
