Permission bypass via unsigned dynamic library loading
Published Dec 18, 2024 · Updated Dec 19, 2024
Library injection in Microsoft Excel 16.83 for macOS allows local users to reuse the application's granted permissions. Excel enables com.apple.security.cs.disable-library-validation and loads libraries through relative paths, permitting unsigned code from a controlled copy of the application. Exploitation requires a malicious local application to copy and launch Excel; injected code receives Excel's entitlements and any permissions already granted to it.
