CVE-2024-42987Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated router crash via unchecked sprintf

Published Aug 15, 2024 · Updated Sep 2, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda FH1206 02.03.01.35 allows remote attackers to crash the router through a crafted HTTP POST request. The fromPptpUserAdd handler passes modino, username, newpwd, and pptpdnetseg values to sprintf without length validation, overwriting a stack buffer. No authentication or user interaction is required; the grounded consequence is a service crash, while code execution is reported only as scenario-dependent.
