Service interruption via unchecked password decoding
Published Aug 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda FH1206 02.03.01.35 allows remote attackers to interrupt router service via a crafted POST request. The fromAdvSetWan handler passes attacker-controlled pptpPPW data to decodePwd, which copies bytes into the fixed-size v52 stack buffer without a bounds check. The request must reach the AdvSetWan management endpoint with wanmode set to 3, and overflowing the buffer interrupts routing service.
