Router crash via unbounded page parameter formatting
Published Aug 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda FH1201 firmware 1.2.0.14(408) allows remote attackers to crash the router via a crafted POST request. The fromwebExcptypemanFilter handler passes the attacker-controlled page value to sprintf while building firewall_murlexcplist.asp?page=%s without bounding the destination buffer. Unauthenticated network reachability to /goform/webExcptypemanFilter is sufficient; exploitation interrupts service by crashing the router, with no reported data disclosure or modification.
