Service interruption via unchecked PPW password decoding
Published Aug 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda FH1201 Firmware 1.2.0.14 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via a crafted POST request. The fromWizardHandle function passes the attacker-controlled PPW value to decodePwd, which copies bytes into the fixed-size v54 stack array without a bounds check. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the reported consequence is service interruption without data disclosure or modification.
