CVE-2024-42946Public exploit

Service interruption via unbounded page formatting

Published Aug 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 16, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda FH1201 firmware 1.2.0.14(408) allows remote attackers to interrupt service via a crafted POST request. The fromVirtualSer handler passes the unbounded page parameter to sprintf while constructing nat_virtualser.asp?page=%s in the fixed-size v5 stack buffer. A network-adjacent, unauthenticated attacker can reach /goform/VirtualSer; a 1,000-byte page value triggers the overflow and interrupts router service.
