CVE-2024-42943Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service interruption via unbounded PPPoE password copy

Published Aug 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 16, 2024

Stack overflow in Tenda FH1201 Firmware 1.2.0.14(408) allows remote attackers to cause a service interrupt via a crafted PPPoE password. The fromAdvSetWan handler passes the POST-supplied PPPOEPassword value to decodePwd, which copies it into a fixed stack buffer without a bounds check. The management endpoint must be network-reachable; exploitation requires no authentication or user interaction and affects availability only.
