Unauthenticated service interruption via unchecked password decoding
Published Aug 15, 2024 · Updated Sep 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda FH1201 Firmware 1.2.0.14 (408) allows remote attackers to interrupt service via a crafted POST request. The fromAdvSetWan handler passes attacker-controlled pptpPPW data to decodePwd, which copies bytes into the fixed-size v52 stack buffer without checking its capacity. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the public proof targets /goform/AdvSetWan on the router's web interface.
