CVE-2024-42915Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Account takeover via poisoned password reset link

Published Aug 23, 2024 · Updated Aug 23, 2024

Host header injection in Staff Appraisal System 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to compromise accounts through reset-token theft. The password-reset handler builds the emailed reset URL from an unvalidated HTTP Host header, so a forged host directs the token to an attacker-controlled server. Exploitation requires low-privileged access, acceptance of the forged host, and a targeted user following the emailed link; the stolen token permits a password reset and account access.
