Authenticated PHP code execution via language-file traversal
Published Sep 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 3, 2024
Code injection in LimeSurvey 6.6.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code through the lng parameter. The KCFinder js_localize.php endpoint forms a language-file path from that query value and passes the resulting path to require without rejecting traversal sequences. Exploitation requires an attacker-controlled PHP file to be reachable on the server, after which inclusion executes that file in the web application's context.
