Unauthenticated command execution via unfiltered syscmd input
Published Aug 23, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2024
OS command injection in NETGEAR DGN1000WW firmware 1.1.00.45 allows remote attackers to execute commands through the Diagnostics page. The setup.cgi syscmd handler formats the cmd parameter into a command buffer without filtering, while a currentsetting.htm query marker bypasses mini_httpd authorization. An attacker on an adjacent network needs no credentials or user interaction and gains arbitrary command execution on the router.
