Authenticated command execution via unchecked WAN parameters
Published Aug 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024
OS command injection in TOTOLINK X5000R Firmware 9.1.0cu.2350_b20230313 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands. The setWanIeCfg handler in /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi passes the staticIp, staticMask, and staticGw parameters unchecked to Uci_set_str, which formats them into a uci command that CsteSystem ultimately executes with execv. Access to the router's authenticated management interface is required, and successful injection grants arbitrary command execution on the appliance.
