Root command execution via unvalidated MAC parameter
Published Aug 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 16, 2024
Command injection in the Tenda AC9 15.03.06.42 web interface allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands as root. The formWriteFacMac handler reads the mac POST parameter with websGetVar and passes it to doSystemCmd without validation. Access to the authenticated /goform/WriteFacMac endpoint is required, and successful exploitation grants full control of the router operating system.
