Widget installation via forged administrator request
Published Aug 20, 2024 · Updated Aug 20, 2024
CSRF in Pligg CMS 2.0.2 allows attackers to install the Akismet widget through an authenticated administrator’s browser. The admin_widgets.php handler accepts the state-changing action=install and widget=akismet GET parameters without verifying an anti-CSRF token. A victim must hold an active administrator session and open attacker-controlled content, after which the application installs the widget without the administrator’s intent.
