CVE-2024-42609Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Administrator avatar-backup creation via forged request

Published Aug 20, 2024 · Updated Aug 20, 2024

Cross-site request forgery in Pligg CMS 2.0.2 allows remote attackers to create an avatar backup through an administrator's session. The admin backup workflow accepts the dobackup=avatars request without an origin-bound CSRF token and processes it with the current session. A logged-in administrator must load or submit attacker-controlled web content, after which the server writes an archive of avatar files.
