CVE-2024-42546Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Memory corruption via unbounded password transformation

Published Aug 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2024

Buffer overflow in TOTOLINK A3100R 4.1.2cu.5050_B20200504 allows remote attackers to corrupt memory via a crafted password. The passwordTrans function writes each decoded or literal password byte into its destination without checking the destination size. Network access to the management CGI is sufficient and no authentication is required; public evidence does not establish a crash or code execution.
