CVE-2024-42520Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Device compromise via oversized submit-url stack copy

Published Aug 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024

Stack buffer overflow in TOTOLINK A3002R 4.0.0-B20230531.1404 allows remote attackers to compromise the router via an HTTP request. The formParentControl handler in /bin/boa passes an oversized submit-url value to sub_40bdd0, overflowing a fixed-size stack buffer. CISA assesses that no privileges or user interaction are required, although the published request contains a sessionCheck parameter.
