CVE-2024-42481Network attack vector

Host crash via unthrottled file-tree expansion

Published Aug 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Skyport Labs Skyport Daemon before 0.2.2 allows remote attackers to crash the host via file creation. The createFolder and createFile endpoints accept thousands of requests without rate limiting, after which calculateDirectorySize recursively walks the resulting tree and exhausts CPU and memory. No authentication or user interaction is required; sustained network requests can force full CPU use, an out-of-memory condition, and a host crash.
