Remote code execution via traversed file overwrite
Published Aug 9, 2024 · Updated Aug 9, 2024
Path traversal in openHAB WebUI's CometVisu before 4.2.1 allows remote attackers to overwrite files through an unauthenticated PUT request. FsResource.update appends the user-controlled path query value to the configuration folder and saves the supplied body without constraining the resolved target. Code execution requires a writable script to be replaced and later executed, while the immediate consequence is arbitrary overwrite of an existing writable file.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
