Unauthenticated file disclosure via decoded path traversal
Published Aug 9, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024
Path traversal in openHAB WebUI's CometVisu add-on before 4.2.1 allows remote attackers to read local server files via HTTP GET. CometVisuServlet URL-decodes the requested path, joins it to its content root without constraining the resolved location, and streams the resulting file. No authentication is required, but the CometVisu userdata directory must exist; a double-encoded traversal discloses files readable by the openHAB process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
