Internal service access and XSS via unrestricted proxy
Published Aug 9, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
SSRF and XSS in openHAB WebUI 3.4.0.M4 through 4.2.0 allow remote attackers to access internal services through the CometVisu proxy. ProxyResource accepts an arbitrary url parameter, sends a GET request to that URI, and returns its body and content type without an allowlist. Direct SSRF requires a non-private deployment; the XSS path requires a user to open a crafted proxy link, allowing same-origin script access to local openHAB endpoints.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
