CVE-2024-42456Network attack vector

Privilege escalation via underauthorized configuration update

Published Dec 4, 2024 · Updated Dec 4, 2024

Authorization bypass in Veeam Backup & Replication 12.2.0.334 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to control critical services. A configuration-update method accepts calls from Viewer or Operator roles and can replace the trusted client certificate used to authenticate access on a service port. A role assigned through Users and Roles is required; successful abuse permits privileged method calls and control over critical services.
