Virtual infrastructure disruption via unchecked management methods
Published Dec 4, 2024 · Updated Dec 4, 2024
Improper authorization in Veeam Backup & Replication 12.2.0.334 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter connected hosts. Management-service methods fail to enforce role permissions before accepting host-configuration changes from limited Viewer or Operator accounts. A limited backup-server role is sufficient to power off virtual machines, delete storage files, and change virtual-infrastructure settings.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
