CVE-2024-42452Network attack vector

Elevated file upload via unchecked remote calls

Published Dec 4, 2024 · Updated Dec 4, 2024

Incorrect authorization in Veeam Backup & Replication 12.0.0.1402 through 12.2.0.334 allows remote authenticated users to upload files. The remote agent-start path bypasses role permission checks, starts an agent in server mode, and exposes credentials used for privileged uploads. Viewer or Operator access on the backup server and a connected ESXi host are required; successful exploitation writes files to that host with elevated privileges.
