CVE-2024-42450Network attack vector

Unauthenticated database takeover via shared PostgreSQL password

Published Nov 19, 2024 · Updated Nov 21, 2024

Default credentials in Versa Networks Versa Director 21.2.2 through 21.2.3 and 22.1.1 through 22.1.4 allow remote attackers to access PostgreSQL. The default deployment assigns a shared PostgreSQL password across Director instances and binds PostgreSQL to every network interface. Any host able to reach TCP port 5432 can use the common credential to read or administer operational and configuration data or read local files, enabling system privilege escalation.
