Local code execution via DMA-SMM race
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 14, 2025
TOCTOU race in the Computrace module of AMI Aptio V BKS_5.0 through BKS_5.38 allows local users to execute arbitrary code. AMI identifies a race between DMA and SMM but has not disclosed the checked object, competing write, or affected firmware routine. Affected systems must use the Computrace module; exploitation also requires low privileges, high-complexity timing, and user interaction.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
