Unauthenticated RCE via PAPI stack buffer overflow
Published Aug 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 12, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in HPE Aruba Instant 8.10.0.0 through 8.10.0.12 and 8.12.0.0 through 8.12.0.1 allows remote attackers to execute commands. The Soft AP Daemon Service writes PAPI-protocol input past a stack buffer boundary, corrupting memory used to control command execution. No authentication or user interaction is required; network access to the PAPI service enables complete control of the access point.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=8.10.0.0 <=8.10.0.12
- Affected versionversion=8.12.0.0 <=8.12.0.1
