Heap memory disclosure via unexpected TLS packet
Published Nov 18, 2024 · Updated Nov 18, 2024
Out-of-range pointer use in Cesanta Mongoose 7.14 and earlier allows remote attackers to read unintended heap memory via TLS. The CNA and vendor advisory identify an unexpected TLS packet as the trigger but do not disclose the parser function or offset calculation that moves a pointer beyond its valid range. The affected library must expose TLS to an untrusted network, and the CNA assessment requires user interaction; the published impact excludes data modification and service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
