Unauthenticated local-file disclosure via compressed symlink following
Published Aug 9, 2024 · Updated Jun 9, 2025
Path traversal in aio-libs aiohttp 3.10.0b1 through 3.10.1 allows remote attackers to read local files through static routes. FileResponse checks neither containment nor link type for .gz or .br variants, then follows symlinks with Path.stat() and Path.open(). Exposure requires an aiohttp server with a static route and a compressed-variant symlink outside its root, or a way for attackers to create one.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
